About Amberly Neese

Hi, I'm Amberly!

I'm a Christian Speaker, Author, Professor, & Comedian who believes Jesus had a brilliant sense of humor.

From speaking at women's retreats and national tours, to writing Bible studies that don't assume you have it all together, to coaching speakers who want to stop boring their audiences. I help women build real faith and real community without all the pretending.

I believe women deserve faith that's honest, humor that's real, and permission to not have it all together.

When we stop cosplaying Christians and start being actual humans, that's when the good stuff happens.

The Cliff Notes

Here's the thing nobody puts on their About page:

I didn't set out to be a Christian speaker. I set out to survive Bible college, make people laugh, and figure out if this whole "abundant life" thing Jesus promised was actually real or just something we say to sound spiritual.

Turns out, it's real. But it doesn't look like what the Instagram posts promised.

The short version:

  • Bible college grad who knew the answers before understanding the questions.
  • Married 30+ years with two adult kids (one just got married, making me officially old).
  • College professor at an aviation school. Don't fly planes. Long story.
  • Author of four Bible studies for women who don't have it all together.
  • Speaker and comedian on national tours. I make people laugh, cry, and think.
  • Still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.

That's the bones. The soft tissue includes way more.

What I Actually Do

Teaching

I'm an Assistant Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, where I teach English Composition and Rhetoric.

I've been teaching since 2001: online at Grand Canyon University, junior high at a Lutheran school, and now college students who think they can't write. They can.

I just have to convince them.

Writing

I've published four books with Abingdon Press: Untangling Faith, The Friendship Initiative, Common Ground, and The Belonging Project.

They're Bible studies and devotionals for women who are tired of studies that assume you have two hours a day for journaling and zero actual problems.

My studies tackle real questions:

    • Can God be trusted?
    • How do I make friends as an adult?
    • What do I do when everyone I love disagrees about everything?

Speaking

I've been a featured speaker and comedian for national tours like Aspire Women's Events, Marriage Date Night, and the Relatable Moms Tour. I speak at women's retreats, church events, conferences, and corporate functions.

Topics include faith, friendship, community, doubt, and why we're all so tired of playing the part of good Christians.

I make people laugh, cry, and actually think instead of just nodding politely.

Comedy

I perform clean stand-up for corporate events, fundraisers, and church functions. Because if God created laughter, we should probably use it.

My comedy is observational, self-deprecating, and safe for your conservative grandmother and your progressive niece to laugh at together. (Which, in 2026, is basically a superpower.)

I make people laugh, cry, and actually think instead of scrolling through social media to avoid eye contact.

Coaching

I work with speakers who are good at what they do but need help sharpening their message, fixing their structure, finding new gigs, and stopping the apologizing for the imposter syndrome game thing we all do.

I've been speaking for 30+ years.

I know what works. Let's make your talks better and your impact greater.

Emcee

I emcee fundraisers, galas, and awards banquets. I keep your program moving, transition between speakers without awkward pauses, and make sure your audience stays engaged instead of checking their phones.

Think of me as the glue that holds your event together. But funnier.

The Personal Stuff

I've been married for 30+ years to a man who still makes me laugh and has learned to ignore my piles of books everywhere. We have two adult kids, a son and a daughter. Our daughter, Judah, recently got married, which officially makes me old enough to give unsolicited advice and young enough to pretend I don't.

We live in Prescott, Arizona - elevation 5,400 feet, which means actual seasons and pine trees and the occasional snowstorm that shuts down the whole town because nobody here knows how to drive in weather.

I'm a Food Network junkie, a Star Wars nerd (original trilogy forever), and the kind of person who has seventeen books going at once and finishes none of them. I drink too much coffee, stay up too late writing, and genuinely believe that laughter and honesty are underrated spiritual disciplines.

I'm also terrible at keeping plants alive, mediocre at returning texts promptly, and still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.

Why I Keep Doing This

Because I meet too many women who think they're the only ones struggling.

The only ones who doubt. The only ones who feel lonely in a crowded room. The only ones who wonder if they're doing faith wrong because it doesn't feel like the Instagram posts.

I write, speak, and teach because somebody needs to say out loud: You're not failing. The system is broken.

The version of Christian community we've been sold (the one where everyone's fine, nobody struggles, and faith is always certain) isn't biblical. It's not even human. And it's making us exhausted, isolated, and secretly convinced we're the problem.

So I'm here to tell a different story. One where doubt is normal, community is messy, friendship takes work, and Jesus is way more interested in honesty than perfection.

If that's the kind of faith you're looking for, you're in the right place.
